Keywords: Rotifera, morphology, phylogeny, biogeography, taxonomy, systematics
My primary research interests concern the biogeography, biodiversity, phylogeny and evolutionary history reconstruction of lower Metazoa belonging to a group of animals, collectively known as ‘meiofauna’, which technically consist of microinvertebrates with sizes between 45 μm and 1 mm. Almost every major phylum has interstitial representatives, with some phyla being exclusively meiofaunal. My researches mainly focuses on taxonomy, systematics and reconstructing eco/evolutionary relationships within and among such groups as Rotifera and Gastrotricha using advanced microscopy and molecular approaches. These taxon pages aim to build the first complete database on marine rotifers, which will contain all the information (from taxonomy to morphology, genetic, distribution, etc.) available currently.
